Keith Ketchum is a Kauai-based photographer known for creating thoughtful, story-driven imagery rooted in authenticity and connection. His work spans portraits, weddings, family photography, editorial, fine art, fashion, branding, lifestyle, underwater, and action sports photography. With a natural, unobtrusive approach, Keith focuses on capturing moments that feel genuine, timeless, and true to each subject.
Keith earned a degree in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where he developed a strong foundation in drawing, painting, design, and photography. He began his professional career as a staff photographer and photo editor for a surf, fashion, art, and music magazine, gaining valuable experience in travel, photojournalism, lifestyle, and action sports photography. These early influences continue to inform his portrait and wedding work, blending visual storytelling with a refined editorial sensibility.
Prior to relocating to Kauai, Keith opened his own studio, bringing a photojournalistic perspective to more intimate, people-centered work. He has called Kauai home for the past 12 years, where he lives with his family and draws daily inspiration from the island’s landscape and community.
Keith’s work has been featured by a wide range of national and international publications and brands, including Travel + Leisure, ESPN, Rolling Stone Italy, Free People, GoDaddy, ABC, and Surfline. He has collaborated with actors, musicians, athletes, models, families, and couples, and is valued for his professionalism, adaptability, and ability to put people at ease in front of the camera.
In addition to client work, Keith published a photo and art book titled SUPERSTITIOUS, a curated collection of images and written reflections that offers insight into his creative perspective.
Known for his calm, approachable presence, Keith enjoys working with people and embracing creative challenges. Outside of photography, he spends his time surfing, hiking, playing guitar, traveling, and enjoying life with his family.
